Shadowbox framing for textiles

2022 Framing project at Chandler Designs

Archival framing for two original textiles, an original oil on leather, circa 1900, and an heirloom needlepoint, stitched by a family member 50 or more years ago. The archival framing needed for each one included a float mount on 100% cotton rag mat board, museum glass, and custom spacers to hold the glass in place and off the original works.

An heirloom needlepoint, stitched by a family member 50 or more years ago. In need of dental cleaning to remove debris, but too fragile for washing.
The piece was stretched and close framed with a 3/8″ spacer separating the wool from the glass. Museum glass was used for maximum UV protection and clarity to view this stunning work.
